Superstar Rajinikanth has on Tuesday announced a donation of Rs 50 lakh to workers employed with Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI). ‘Sye Raa’ actor Vijay Sethupathi has announced Rs 10 lakh as his contribution.
As many as 25,000 workers are affiliated to the Federation. Since the ongoing shutdown may continue till mid-April, they need help in cash and kind.
FEFSI needs as much as Rs 2 Cr for buying rice bags and other needed basics for the well-being of the workers. Between them, Rajini and Sethupathi have given Rs 60 lakh. The rest of the amount is expected to come from other big actors in the film industry.
