Following the restoration of ban on Vishwaroopam by the Madras High Court, Kamal Hassan is said to be mooting an appeal in the Supreme Court. Earlier on the 30th, when a single-judge bench which is hearing the case lifted the ban, the Tamil Nadu government filed a petition in the wake of the order pleading the court to not lift the ban.
The next few days are crucial for the film’s fate in Tamil Nadu. Already, huge losses are said to have been incurred by exhibitors and distributors due to the ban.
Surprisingly, the film was not allowed to be screened in Chennai on the morning of the 30th by the police in view of the law and order situation. At a theatre, the audiences were asked to show a copy of the court’s judgement.
