Has Priyamani been pipped by a contingent of newcomers? So it seems. She was touted to become one of the reigning divas way back some years ago when she grabbed film after film like NTR’s Yamadonga, Balakrishna’s Mitrudu, Ravi Teja’s Shambo Shiva Shambo and Nagarjuna’s Ragada. When she hogged the limelight with these films, it was natural to think that nothing could stop her.
She has acted in one too many Jagapathi films in the recent years. Starting with Pellaina Kotthalo, Pravarakhyudu, Sadhyam and now Kshetram (to be released), the diva has been known to be Babu’s blue-eyed girl. Unfortunately, her bikini show in Nitin?s Drona proved to be a great undoing (or so opine some critics).
With not many offers coming her way, thanks to the mighty divas like Samantha, Kajal, Tamanna, et al, Priyamani is content with doing Malayalam and Kannada.
Yet, she cannot be easily written off. The actress with mettle might well bounce back with Kshetram, where she is playing a tough, performance-oriented role. As Nagapenchalamma, be informed, Priyamani will wield the sword and do a bit of karresamu.
All the best, Priyamani.
