The Wai district in Maharashtra is known for its ghats and temples on the banks of river Krishna. It?s a favourite shooting spot for several Indian filmmakers including KV Anand who is helming Suriya?s ?Maatraan?.
A few days back a romantic melody featuring Suriya Sivakumar and Kajal Aggarwal was canned in here. The on screen chemistry between the duo is said to be one of the highlights of the slick flick.
KV Anand had first shot at the Wai area for the ?Ballelakka?? track in Rajini?s ?Sivaji? for which he worked as a cinematographer.
Earlier scenes and songs for several Bollywood flicks including ?Dabangg?, ?Swadesh?, Singham? and Ishqiya were canned here.
The shooting of the film is almost wrapped, only a few songs are pending to be canned. ?Maatraan? has used performance capture technology for some high voltage action scenes. It?s doubtlessly one of the biggest projects for Suriya so far.
The team is aiming to release ?Maatraan? in the fag end of June or as an early July release.
