National Award winning director SP Jananathan is shooting ‘Purampokku’ with Arya and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead. But why such a demeaning title? The director clarifies, going back to actual meaning behind the coinage.
“The word Purampokku was actually coined to refer to that which does not belong to any particular entity, but is helpful to all in common. This is why the common land, which does not belong to anyone is called Purampokku land. This is used up by the government for developmental activities for the public. In this film, Arya and Vijay Sethupathi are common men, who help everyone at large” says the director, suggesting a new meaning to the word henceforth, overriding its usage so far.
