Chiyaan Vikram’s magnum opus flick to enter the Oscars race? – Exciting deets

Pa Ranjith is a maverick filmmaker whose works are fascinating as well as socially responsible. He took his last film ‘Natchathiram Nagargirathu’ to some prestigious film festivals including the Cannes International Film Festival. Ranjith is now working on the magnum opus film ‘Thangalaan’ starting Chiyaan Vikram in the titular role.

Thangalaan is produced by KE Gnanavel Raja under Studio Green while Neelam Production co-produces. Now, the production house’s CEO Dhananjayan in a recent interview revealed that the makers are planning to take Thangalaan to the Oscars. The film has a universal story and the team is excited to take it places. With 10 days of shoot remaining, the post production is all set to begin this month.

Thangalaan is scheduled for a grand festival release in 2024, most probably on Pongal but the movie make its debut in the film festivals from August itself. Then, it will race for the Academy Award for sure. Thangalaan stars Chiyaan Vikram, Pasupathi, Malavika Mohanan, Parvathy Tiruvothu, Daniel Caltigarone, Harikrishnan and many others with music composed by GV Prakash Kumar. The film will be released in Pan Indian languages in 2D and 3D.
