A surprise heroine and acclaimed actor join Vikram in Pa Ranjith’s ‘Chiyaan 61’?

Chiyaan Vikram enthralled global audiences as Aditha Karikalan in Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ which is continuing to rule the box office entering its fourth week in theaters worldwide.  The towering actor has meanwhile started shooting for his next ‘Chiyaan 61’ in Kadapa.

‘Chiyaan 61’ is directed by Pa Ranjith who has based the story on real life incidents that happened in the 18th century when the British started mining the Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) recruiting workers from Tamil Nadu.

It was earlier reported that Rashmika Mandanna will be playing the female lead in ‘Chiyaan 61’ but she reportedly had to opt out due to date clashes as the project saw delay.  It was later said thas Malavika Mohanan has replaced her.  But now reliable sources say that Parvathi Thiruvothu of ‘Poo’ and ‘Mariyaan’ has signed on to play the pair of Vikram in the film.  The talented actress will be returning to Tamil cinema after a long gap.

Another buzz is that celebrated character actor Pasupathy is also a part of ‘Chiyaan 61’ and this will be his second project with Ranjith after ‘Sarpatta Paramabarai’ and the fifth with Vikram after ‘Dhool’, ‘Arul’, ‘Majaa’ and ’10 Endrathukkulla’.  More updates on this Studio Green bankrolled GVP musical is explected as the week progresses.
