Donald Trump last night (IST) said that a “big conflict” is going on between India and China. The US President further claimed that Narendra Modi is not in a good mood about the issue.
“The two countries with 1.4 billion people and very powerful militaries (sic). India is not happy and probably China is not happy. I did speak to Prime Minister Modi, he is not in a good mood about what is going on with China,” Trump famously said.
Much to everyone’s surprise, on Friday morning, the Modi government issued a statement saying that there has been “no recent contact between PM Modi and US President Trump”. “Last conversation between them was on 4 April 2020 on the subject of Hydroxychloroquine. Yesterday, the Ministry of External Affairs had also made it clear that we are directly in touch with China through established mechanisms and diplomatic contacts,” the statement from the government said.
With this, many are wondering if the US President is having imaginary conversations.
