Vicky Kaushal’s blockbuster film, Chhaava, has crossed Rs. 500 crores nett at the Indian box office and continues to perform strongly. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the movie is based on the life of Sambhaji Maharaj, with Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna in key roles. Due to high demand, the Telugu version was finally released in cinemas yesterday.
Presented by Geetha Arts, the Telugu-dubbed version opened with moderate promotions in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Reports indicate that it earned Rs. 3 crores gross on its first day, which is a decent start.
The Telugu version ideally should have been released earlier, as the excitement for the film has slightly decreased after three weeks. Additionally, the re-release of Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu impacted its box office collection.
Furthermore, the Champions Trophy final between India and New Zealand might affect ticket sales. However, strong word of mouth is expected to help the film recover and perform well in the long run.
