In a video recently released on his YouTube channel, actor-director Parthiban announced that he is actively pursuing an official government certificate stating “No Caste, No Religion.”
“Mentally, I have always been firm in the belief that I have no caste or religion,” he stated. He mentioned that a small ‘ordeal’ he faced recently strengthened his resolve to make this stance official. He is currently engaged in the legal procedures required to obtain this certificate and expressed confidence that a Government Order (GO) will be issued soon, followed by the certificate itself.
In Tamil Nadu, a few individuals (such as Sneha from Vellore) have already obtained such certificates after long legal battles. However, a prominent artist announcing such a decision in the public eye is being viewed as a significant move toward social change.
“There is a unique sense of peace in identifying oneself as a human being, transcending the labels of caste and religion.” – The essence of Parthiban’s message.
Support for Parthiban’s announcement is pouring in across social media. His fans are praising him, noting that the man who once created the film “Puthiya Paathai” (New Path) is now carving out a new path in real life as well.
