Bollywood filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj recently had bold remarks against the CBFC. Speaking on the sidelines of a film festival, the renowned director said that films are made a soft target by the state.
"Did the censor board listen to us when they put the 'no smoking' ticker on a running visual? Do they hear us even now when they are out to curb the digital world? They are deaf," Vishal said at a time when Netflix, Amazon Prime and ZEE5 are having to submit to censor rules.
"We are the only nation in this world that has 'no smoking' on a running visual. How more ridiculous can it be?" he asked, visibly irked by the arbitrariness of it all.
