Singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, famously known by his stage name KK, passed away on May 31 hours after his concert in Nazrul Mancha auditorium in Kolkata. He fell ill during his performance after which he was taken to a private hospital where he was declared dead.
Following a video that showed the singer complaining about extreme heat and lack of ventilation at the auditorium, autopsy reports confirmed that KK had suffered a cardiac arrest. Another video of the singer walking in the hotel lobby moments before he collapsed has surfaced online. One of the staff members the of Nazrul Manch auditorium had earlier mentioned that the venue was overcrowded. “Our seat capacity was 2,482 but the crowd was more than double the capacity. The crowd broke the gate,” the auditorium employee reportedly said.
KK, who was best known for his incredible work in Bollywood, had also sung several well-known Tamil songs, including ‘Appadi Podu’ from Ghilli, ‘Uyirin Uyire’ from Kaakha Kaakha, ‘Ninaithu Ninaithu’ from 7G Rainbow Colony, and ‘Kadhal Valarthen’ from Manmadhan, among others. KK’s body was cremated in Mumbai on June 2.
