A legal dispute between singer Cassie and music producer Sean “Diddy” Combs, alleging abuse, has been resolved, both parties announced on Friday, one day after the lawsuit was filed.
Their resolution was confirmed by attorney Douglas Wigdor, representing Cassie, also known as Casandra Ventura, who mentioned they reached a satisfactory agreement on Friday evening. However, the terms were not disclosed, and there won't be any further statements beyond those released by Ventura, Combs, and Wigdor in an email by the attorney.
In her statement, Ventura expressed her decision to settle amicably, stating her appreciation for the support from her family, fans, and lawyers.
Combs, too, addressed the resolution, wishing Cassie and her family well and expressing an amicable resolution.
Ben Brafman, Combs’ attorney, did not respond immediately. Earlier, Brafman stated Combs strongly denied the allegations.
The lawsuit accused Combs of introducing Cassie into a fast-paced lifestyle with drug use and violent behavior. Cassie claimed she faced physical abuse, forced drug consumption, and non-consensual sex during their relationship.
Cassie also alleged that Combs raped her in 2018 and was subjected to abusive behavior since their relationship began in 2007.
Combs, a renowned hip-hop producer and executive, has denied these allegations. He has been honored for his contributions to music and recently released a new album, earning Grammy nominations.
Ventura, who gained fame with the hit single “Me & U,” withdrew her earlier threats and chose legal action, aiming to raise awareness about the abuse she claims to have suffered. Attorney Wigdor praised her courage for taking this step.
