Campaign Ends for Jubilee Hills By-Election; All Eyes on November 11 Polling

The intense campaign for the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election concluded on Sunday evening, marking the end of weeks of high-voltage political activity in one of Hyderabad’s most high-profile constituencies. Polling is scheduled for November 11, while counting of votes will take place on November 14.

The by-election, necessitated by the resignation of the sitting MLA earlier this year, has drawn significant attention from political circles, given Jubilee Hills’ mix of elite residential areas, commercial hubs, and strong youth voter presence. All major parties — including the Congress, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) — have fielded prominent candidates, turning the constituency into a political battleground.

As the campaign ended, leaders of all parties made last-minute appeals to voters through door-to-door interactions, roadshows, and social media campaigns. The Election Commission has meanwhile imposed the silence period, restricting all forms of public canvassing until polling day.

In line with election protocols, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has directed all non-local political workers and campaigners to vacate the constituency by 6 pm on Sunday. The Commission also ordered the closure of pubs, bars, and liquor outlets in the Jubilee Hills area to ensure a peaceful and fair voting process.

Polling will be conducted from 7 am to 6 pm at more than 250 polling stations set up across the constituency. Security has been tightened, with Hyderabad City Police deploying additional personnel, surveillance drones, and special mobile teams to prevent any untoward incidents. Voter awareness drives have also been carried out to encourage higher turnout.

The counting of votes will be held on November 14, with results expected the same day.

With campaigning now over, the spotlight shifts to the electorate of Jubilee Hills — whose verdict will decide which party gains a crucial edge in the state’s political landscape.
