Mahi V Raghav, who struck gold last year with ‘Anando Brahma’, is currently wielding the megaphone for ‘Yatra’, the biopic on YS Rajasekhar Reddy. Taking to Twitter on Friday, the filmmaker has hit out at those award functions which treat writers and editors with a stepmotherly attitude.
“Any film awards without a category for best story/screenplay and best editor should be boycotted. It’s an insult to the craft of filmmaking. Can’t understand best male and female singer being more important than a screenwriter & editor,” Mahi said.
While it’s not known which award functions he has in mind, one must agree with Mahi. His message is something the organizers of awards functions will do well to bear in mind. At a time when writers and editors, who are paid very less in our industry, need a morale booster as much as possible, you expect those sitting in the judgment seats to recognize their talents.
