Actors who gifted us Laughter in 2015
As many as 200 and odd films have released in the year 2015 and this is a phenomenal number would have been bigger if the rains had not savaged Chennai city during the first week of December. As in the previous Male superstars and heroes have been the crowd pullers of many films released in Tamil this year. But a cursory look at box office and critical performance of the films of our much loved stars and top heroes released this year would prove that every other thing including the glorious star image can just supplement the content of a film.
Doubt Senthil, Kumaravel, Narayanan Lucky and Chaams
The Aditya TV anchor Doubt Senthil got a substantial role in Radha Mohan's 'Uppu Karuvadu' in which he has delivered an outstanding performance well supported by Kumaravel, Narayanan Lucky, and Chaams together making a formidable comedy team in the film.
Bala Saravanan
Bala as friend of G.V.Prakash Kumar in the film 'Darling' scored very well with his comic timing and freaky one-liners. He comes throughout the film and his chemistry with Karunaas helped the cause of comedy to a great extent.
Vidyullekha Raman
One of the few female comedians in Tamil cinema Vidyullekha's best came in 'Inimmey Ippadithaan' and 'VSOP' but also gave good performances in 'Puli' and 'Vedalam'.
Urvashi
The evergreen Urvashi has still not lost any steam and this year she had a humour laden roles as the easy going mother of Nakul in 'Tamizhukku Enn Ondrinai Azhuthavum'. She proved her variety with her emotional roles in 'Uttama Villain' and 'Inji Idupazhagi' and also presented them with moments of laughter within the scope of the character.
Jagan
An actor who gives his best when the role suits him Jagan once again was adequate under the direction of K.V.Anand with whom he has had some good films in the past. He also evoked a few guffaws in Kamal Haasan's 'Thoongavanam'.
Kanja Karuppu
One of the promising comedians of the past year who is having a lean phase lately Kanja Karuppu is in his elements as the Man Friday of egoistic music director Vetriselvan (Sathyaraj) in 'Isai'.
Pasupathi
The versatile actor Pasupathy had a scream of a role as a village elder in war with a rival in 'India Pakistan' and was also the saving grace of the disastrous '10 Enradhukkulla'.
Yogi Babu
In 'Kaaka Muttai' Yogi Babu formed a cool combo with Ramesh Thilak and was instrumental in making the screenplay racy with all their jokes coming good. Yogi Babu has featured in almost a dozen films this year.
VTV Ganesh
VTV Ganesh had a busy year with his comedy working out well in films like 'Inimmey Ippadithaan', 'Romeo Juliet', 'Vaalu' and 'Trisha illana Nayanthara'.
R.J.Balaji
Even in the disastrous 'Idhu Enna Maayam' RJ Balaji rose above the wreck playing his role with multiple guises with ease but his career changing turn came with 'Naanum Rowdy Dhaan' in which elevated to the status of solo comedian delivered a hilarious performance. As a social worker too Balaji has gained immense respect for his contributions to the Chennai flood relief measures.
Sathish
Sathish had a handful of films this year like 'Aambala', Tamizhukku Enn Ondrai Azhuthavum' and 'Vai Raja Vai' but it is in 'Thangamagan' that he combined well with Dhanush to give a humorous portrayal of the friends character which worked well with the audiences.
In todays world in which everything is in fast forward mode rarely we get time to even smile let alone have a good laugh and this makes it even more important....
