Veteran comedian Gundu Hanumantha Rao, known for playing remarkable roles in films like 'Aha Naa Pellanta' and in the serial 'Amrutham', is no more.
He breathed his last at his Hyderabad residence early on Monday. Gundu, 61, had been diagnosed with a kidney-related ailment. Late on Sunday night, he was reportedly taken to a hospital on showing signs of deterioration. Only recently, when he was treated at a hospital, Megastar Chiranjeevi donated Rs. 2 lacs to his family towards medical expenses. His health improved for some time, only to worsen in a few weeks.
Born in Vijayawada in 1956, he began his career as a theatre artist. When acting talent were spotted at plays, Jandhyala saw a comedian in him. Having done more than 400 films, the versatile artist came to be known more for comedy roles. However, his serious roles evoking pathos were critically acclaimed by theatre connoisseurs.
