In a tragic incident in Missouri, Kansas City, a woman lost her baby after she mistakenly placed her in an oven. The mother, Mariah Thomas, is expected to be charged with serious cases, which will include endangering the welfare of a child in the first degree and the death of a child.
According to Sky News, police had responded to a call about a distressed child. Upon arrival, the police found the baby with burns and unfortunately declared the baby dead at the scene. Fox4 reports that the mother had put the child in the oven instead of her crib when the accident occurred.
According to The Guardian, Baker thanked the first responders and the prosecutors in the case. She noted the tragedy that is evident and her deep sadness for the lost life of the baby.
Though no explanation was given for the error, Baker said he “remains confident that the criminal justice system will correct this error and that being proved innocent is the strongest thing to set the record straight.
