Arnold Schwarzenegger undergoes heart surgery; updates from hospital

Hollywood star Arnold Schwarzenegger has announced that he underwent a second heart surgery on Friday in Cleveland and is feeling completely fine now.

Posting a picture of himself from the hospital bed, Arnold Schwarzenegger took to Instagram to reveal that he was feeling “fantastic” post the surgery and thanked the medical staff over there. “Thanks to the team at the Cleveland Clinic, I have a new aortic valve to go along with my new pulmonary valve from my last surgery. I feel fantastic and have already been walking the streets of Cleveland enjoying your amazing statues. Thank you to every doc and nurse on my team!” the 73-year-old actor wrote. According to reports, Schwarzenegger previously underwent a surgery in 2018 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles to replace a pulmonic valve that was originally changed in 1997 due to a congenital heart defect. The actor’s spokesperson had then said that the 1997 replacement valve was never meant to be permanent and had outlived its life expectancy.

Arnold Schwarzenegger rose to fame after playing the lead character in the critically and commercially successful 1984 science fiction film ‘The Terminator.’ He played similar roles in the sequels of the blockbuster film. Schwarzenegger then served as governor of California from 2003-2011, subsequently returning to the Terminator franchise for the sixth film in the series, ‘Terminator: Dark Fate,’ which was released last year.
