Queen of Telugu cinema, Anushka Shetty, is all set to thrill audiences with her most awaited action drama Ghaati, co-starring Vikram Prabhu and directed by visionary filmmaker Krish Jagarlamudi. Produced by Rajeev Reddy and Sai Babu Jagarlamudi under First Frame Entertainment, and presented by UV Creations, the film has already created a huge buzz with its promotional content. Ghaati is slated for a grand release on September 5.

Speaking at a press meet, Anushka expressed her excitement about portraying the role of Sheelavathi. “This is a completely new shade for me. The character is beautiful, layered, and very powerful. It took me out of my comfort zone, and I loved every moment of it. Over my 20-year journey in films, I have done strong roles in Arundhati, Rudhramadevi, Baahubali, and Bhaagamathie, but Sheelavathi is different—strong yet nuanced,” she said.

When asked about the story, Anushka shared, “Krish and writer Srinivas Rao introduced a culture and a world I had never seen before. Visiting the Eastern Ghats and seeing these locations firsthand made me excited to bring this character to life on screen.”

Touching upon the film’s sensitive social theme involving ganja, she added, “Krish always chooses socially relevant stories. While this is a commercial action entertainer, the story carries a positive message without glorifying the issue.”

Anushka praised her co-star Vikram Prabhu, saying, “I have known him for a while, and he is a very kind gentleman. His portrayal of Desiraju is perfect for the character.” She also lauded the technical team, including cinematographer Manoj and music director Sagar, for bringing freshness and depth to the film, noting that the music acts almost as another character in Ghaati.

Reflecting on her off-screen life, Anushka said she spends time traveling, reading, and watching movies, and has been dedicating the past two years to her family. She hinted at future roles, saying, “I would love to do an outright negative character if the right opportunity comes along,” and confirmed she is exploring new projects, including her first Malayalam film.

With its high-octane action, stunning visuals of the Eastern Ghats, and Anushka’s compelling performance, Ghaati is poised to be one of the most talked-about releases this September.
