Controversial film critic C. Ila Maaran aka Blue Sattai Maaran has directed the political satire film 'Anti Indian' which has been released in theaters worldwide today. Since he has the reputation of brutally trolling the films of superstars and legendary filmmakers there is great curiosity as to how he would have made his own film.

The first thing that will strike you when you watch 'Anti Indian' is that few other filmmakers would choose such a controversial subject for their first film. A two hour film revolving around laying to rest a dead person and the problems around it is pretty fresh. The very title itself spells trouble in the current situation and Maran has chosen to create a satire on how even a dead body (played by himself) is not spared by the religious and vote politics. He has attempted to take the middle ground and has succeeded to a certain extent.

As a director Ilamaran has scored in nailing the realistic feel in the atmosphere where the story is set. He has also filmed a lengthy episode of a police procedure followed by a bloody riot pretty effectively. A shot inside the house of the dead man in which framed photos of Gods of all religions are kept and a mirror placed beside it to denote what truly matters in the end is a brilliant touch.
