Animal rights group seeks the arrest of Director and Producer of ‘Baahubali 2’

As we all know the sequel to the grand blockbuster fantasy flick 'Baahubali' is currently in the shooting stage. Unfortunately the 'Baahubali 2' team has courted opposition from a Kerala based Animal Rights activist group which has sent a letter to the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi against the makers of the blockbuster multilingual sequel, for violating the rules pertaining to the use of live animals for shooting a film.

Activists from Heritage Animal Task Force allege that the shooting of 'Baahubali 2' took place in a forest in Trissur recently in which a elephant named Chirackal Kalidasan was used for the shooting without getting prior certificate from Animal Welfare Board of India as per the Performing Animals Registration Rules, 2001.

They also allege that the elephant was made to stand for four hours under the high beam light for shooting and the mahout used the banned weapon 'ankush' to control the animal. More than 50 members were making noise at the shooting spot which has to be seen as a form of torture to the animal. No Animal welfare officer was present during the shooting as per the legal mandate.

The Task Force in its letter to the Prime Minister's office has asked for the arrest of the cinematographer, director and producer of the film for these violations of animal rights.

The 'Baaubali 2' crew is yet to react to these charges.
