Animal Park: Ranbir Kapoor Confirms Sequel to Begin Filming in 2027!

The much-anticipated sequel to the 2023 blockbuster Animal is officially in the works, but fans will have to wait a while longer. In a recent interview with Deadline Hollywood, Ranbir Kapoor provided fresh updates on Animal Park, the second installment in director Sandeep Reddy Vanga‘s ambitious project.

Ranbir confirmed that filming for Animal Park is expected to commence in 2027. He explained that director Sandeep Reddy Vanga is currently busy with his upcoming film Spirit (starring Prabhas), which has pushed the timeline for the sequel. “The director is right now making another film. We should start that film in 2027. It’s a bit away,” Ranbir shared.

Adding to the excitement, Ranbir revealed that Sandeep has long-term plans for the franchise, envisioning it as a three-part saga. “He just kind of flirted with what he really wants to do with the movie. He wants to make it in three parts. The second part is called Animal Park,” the actor disclosed, noting that ideas have been discussed since the first film.

In a major plot tease, Ranbir confirmed he will portray both the protagonist and the antagonist in Animal Park. Building on the cliffhanger from the original Animal, the villain will undergo plastic surgery to resemble the hero, creating an intense dual-role dynamic for Ranbir.

Reflecting on the controversies surrounding the first film—particularly criticisms related to its violence and alleged misogyny—Ranbir defended the movie’s impact. He stated that Animal has sparked a “healthy discussion” in society and emphasized the importance for actors to explore diverse and challenging characters.
