‘Andhra King Taluka’ Day 1 Box Office Report: Positive Talk, Decent Start

Ram Pothineni’s latest outing, Andhra King Taluka, hit theatres to largely positive reviews, marking a refreshing change from the actor’s recent streak of underperforming films. Despite facing harsh criticism and trolling for his previous releases, Ram managed to win over both critics and moviegoers this time.

The actor, who strongly believed in the film’s content, promoted it aggressively and showcased immense confidence leading up to release. However, the team’s release strategy appears to have dampened the opening-day numbers.

Releasing the film in a dull November window and opting for a Thursday debut affected footfalls across regions. Combined with Ram Pothineni’s recent back-to-back flops, these factors contributed to a softer-than-expected start at the domestic box office.

On Day 1, Andhra King Taluka collected ₹4.5 crore India net, landing in the average range. Interestingly, the film performed significantly better overseas, especially in the USA, where it opened with an impressive $125K (₹1.07 crore) gross from premiere shows. In total, the film amassed over ₹6 crore worldwide on its first day.

Industry observers believe the opening numbers could have been higher had the makers chosen a more favorable release period—possibly a month earlier, when there was greater audience momentum.

Directed by Mahesh Babu P and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, Andhra King Taluka blends fan-star dynamics with a romantic thread. The film features Upendra in the role of a movie star, alongside Bhagyashri Borse as the female lead.

With positive word of mouth and better talk than Ram’s recent films, the movie’s performance over the weekend will be crucial in determining its long-term box office prospects.
