On Sunday evening, Ram Gopal Varma announced a film on the Amrutha-Maruthi Rao-Pranay saga. Pranay, the Dalit victim of Maruthi Rao’s casteism, was murdered by goons in September 2018. Since then, Amrutha has been widowed and has been living with her in-laws in Miryalaguda.
Hours after RGV made ‘Murder’ official, a fake statement started doing the rounds. Social media users claimed that it was issued by Amrutha. It said that she wanted to die by suicide after she came to know of the film. The statement attributes to Amrutha her resolve to challenge RGV legally.
Turns out that it’s all fake. Her uncle has told Eenadu that Amrutha didn’t issue the statement at all. She is yet to open up on the movie announcement by RGV.
‘Murder’, to be directed by Anand Chandra, the film will have Sahithi Avancha as Amrutha and Srikanth Iyengar as Maruthi Rao, who died earlier this year.
