The Ameerpet-LB Nagar stretch in Hyderabad, covering 16 km and spanning 17 metro stations, will be inaugurated on Monday by Governor ESL Narasimhan. This line is billed to increase Metro traffic (in terms of users) in a big way.
The launch of the new stretch takes the total Metro distance of Hyderabad to 46 km. Hyderabad’s Metro Rail network is the second largest in India. Delhi’s 297 km stretch is the first largest by a far higher margin. Chennai and Bengaluru are marginally behind Hyderabad.
“With today’s new line from Ameerpet to LB Nagar, Hyderabad Metro will be the second largest in India after New Delhi. The next line to be opened will be from Ameerpet to Hi-Tech city in late December 2018,” KTR has said.
