It was today in 2001 that ‘Khushi’ was released. Directed by SJ Suryah, this rom-com starrer Pawan Kalyan and Bhumika Chawla in the lead.
Produced on Sri Surya Movies by AM Ratnam, it was a blockbuster hit. Marking the completion of 17 years today, the producer went to meet with Power Star at Hyderabad’s Jana Sena office. ”I have come here to present a bouquet to Pawan Kalyan garu. We had a chit-chat and he turned nostalgic,” the producer said.
Ratnam had been decisive about doing a film with Pawan ever since he watched ‘Badri’. ‘Khushi’, the Telugu remake of Vijay-starrer ‘Khushi’ (Tamil), was such a massive hit because of its freshness, great performances, outstanding music by Mani Sharma, and SJ Suryah’s brilliant treatment. The action sequences, conceived by Pawan himself, became a rage.
