Alistair Cook creates a rare record against India in his final test

Alistair Cook in his final innings scored a century against favorite opposition India following the fifty he scored in the first innings.  By achieving this he has created a rare record of scoring a fifty and a hundred in his debut test match as well as his final appearance in the longest format of the game.  The gem on the crown is that his debut as well as his final match is against the same opposition, India.

At the time of this writing Alistair Cook’s remarkable innings of 103 in 222 balls marked by 8 boundaries has helped England lead India by 283 runs at lunch interval.  Virat Kohli and the Indian team clapped the prolific batsman off the field.  Captain Joe Root is on the other end with 92 runs and looks like its going to be a daunting task for the visitors hereafter.
