Ajith’s wife Shalini to make a comeback with multi-starrer?

Shalini, the yesteryear actress, is familiar to the South Indian cine-going community as a child artist of the 1990s. She acted in Mani Ratnam-directed ‘Sakhi’, which had R Madhavan as the hero, in 2000. After she got married to Tamil superstar Ajith, Shalini started staying away from acting.

But the superstar wife is said to be making a comeback of sorts after a gap of more than 20 years. She is believed to have been roped in for a small yet effective cameo in ‘Ponniyin Selvan’, the magnum opus helmed by Mani Ratnam.

The film, which is produced by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies, will hit the screens in 2022. To date, the makers haven’t confirmed the list of cast. However, Shalini is mentioned to be doing ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ by her Wikipedia page. This is deemed to be an indirect confirmation. 

Also featuring Karthi, Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Sarathkumar, and Aishwarya Lekshmi, the film is currently being shot in Puducherry after a gap of several months. Its upcoming schedule will take place in Hyderabad.
