Chennai’s popular multiplex theatre AGS Cinemas has many properties in the city and one of them located at Villivakkam reportedly received an anonymous call that a bomb has been placed near it on Sunday night. The police along with the bomb squad rushed to the premises and scoured the area but nothing was found.
Police sources have stated that investigations are on to trace the caller through his mobile number and tower though it is switched off. It may be noted that even in 2012 a similar hoax call was made at the theatre and caused unnecessary hindrance to the moviegoers.
AGS Cinemas run by the prestigious Kalpathi Group has a chain of multiplexes at Madhuravoyal, T. Nagar and OMR apart from the Villivakkam building and is one of the preferred destinations for moviegoers for its ambience, state of the art facility and hospitality. The production arm of the company delivered the huge blockbuster ‘Bigil’ starring Thalapathy Vijay and directed by Atlee that released on Diwali this year.
