Divya Sripada, who has been a short film actress for years, is slowly finding her voice in films. This year, she has had three OTT releases: 'Colour Photo', 'Miss India' and, latest, 'Middle Class Melodies'.
In 'Colour Photo', the fledgeling artist played the role of the female lead's sympathetic friend. Barring a few light moments, it was a largely serious role. In 'Miss India', Divya was seen as Keerthy Suresh's classmate-turned-business partner. Since her role was too underdeveloped and the film itself was panned badly, she didn't get anything from it in terms of the audience's attention.
But the negativity has been more than undone by 'MCM', which has been streaming on Amazon Prime since Thursday night. As Gouthami, a salesgirl from an economically-poor background, Divya is a relatable girl with believable expressions.
Of late, YouTubers are trying to make a mark in Tollywood. Suhas, who debuted as a male lead with 'Colour Photo', is an example. So also Srividya Maharshi, among others.
