Even as Jerome Salle is exploring the legal options available to take action against the makers of 'Agnyaathavaasi' over copyrights infringement, 'Kaala' is in the news for allegedly being a copycat version.
The Madras High Court has sent legal notices to Superstar Rajinikanth, Dhanush (the film's producer) and Pa.Ranjith (writer-director) regarding an alleged copyright violation by them. An assistant director named Rajasekharan had moved the HC, saying that the story of 'Kaala' is nothing but his script 'Karikalan' that he penned a decade ago.
When the same AD approached a Chennai court, Dhanush submitted that Kaala's story is an original one written by Ranjith. The AD then went to the higher court.
The Rajinikanth-Dhanush-Ranjith trio have to file their replies by Feb 12.
