Actress Sahiti Dasari enters Lok Sabha elections fray

A wave of excitement has swept across the country as the general election approaches. Leaders are leaving no stone unturned to connect with voters, immersing themselves in extensive campaigns. The Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to be held in seven phases, with the first phase already concluded and the second phase set for April 26th.

This election season witnesses a diverse range of candidates, from prominent leaders and film stars to social media influencers and everyday citizens, all vying for a chance to serve the people. The film industry, in particular, has seen a surge in actors entering the political arena, seeking to contribute to society through public service. While some aim to establish their own parties and shape the political landscape, others aspire to contest elections and secure positions as MLAs or MPs.

Adding to the list of actors-turned-politicians is Dasari Sahiti, known for her impactful performance in the “Maa Oori Polimera ” film series. She has announced her candidacy for the Chevella Parliamentary Constituency seat in the Rangareddy District as an independent candidate. Sahiti formally filed her nomination on Wednesday, submitting the necessary documents to the Returning Officer and District Collector, Shashanka.

The Chevella constituency will witness a competitive race with candidates from major parties, including Konda Vishweshwar Reddy from BJP, Ranjith Reddy from Congress, and Kasani Gnaneshwar from BRS. Sahiti’s entry into politics has garnered attention, particularly after her impressive performances in “Polimera” and “Polimera 2,” leaving the audience eager to see how she fares in the upcoming elections.

This came as a surprise because couple of months back , Sahiti Dasari rubbished her political foray by posting on social media saying ‘ I personally like Pawan Kalyan Garu and I am his fan for his acting and I don’t have any knowledge about Jagan Garu.I am not promoting any political party in my reel. don’t drag this topic. Inka meeru meeru kottu kunta ante kottukondi, nakem sambandham legu”
