Jyothika the evergreen heroine of Tamil cinema recently spoke at an awards function that when she visited the Tanjore temple she was fascinated by it and appreciated how the government is maintaining it like a palace. On the other hand she pointed out that while shooting in a government hospital premises she found that the condition was so bad that she cannot even mention the state in words. She made a strong request that public hospitals and schools should be maintained in the same manner as temples. Huge controversy was raised that Jo was targeting Hindu temples and does not do the same to churches or mosques.
Saravanan the director of the untitled Jyothika-Sasikumar film for which the shoot happened also clarified that the hospital did not even have proper facilities or privacy for pregnant women to deliver children. Jyothika’s speech has had a positive impact as the Thanjavur District Collector has ordered an inspection on the particular hospital premises and hopefully there will be an improvement in the facilities for the downtrodden people.
