Asin reigned as a leading actress in the early 2000s in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam cinema. In Tamil her biggest hits were Jeeva's 'Ullam Ketkume', 'M Kumaran S/O Mahalakshmi' with Jayam Ravi, 'Ghajini' with Suriya, 'Pokkiri', 'Kavalan' and 'Sivakasi' with Vijay, 'Varalaru' with Ajith and 'Dasavatharam' with Kamal Haasan.

Asin then found instant stardom in her Bollywood debut in Aamir Khan's 'Ghajini' ans raced to the top in no time. However she fell in love with Micromax founder Rahul Sharma and got married in 2016. The couple have a daughter Arin born in 2017.
