A B.Com second-year student lodged a complaint at the Vannarpet All Women’s police station that one Vijay Harish aged 25 of Anna Nagar raped her and is blackmailing her by taking photos and videos of the act. The police arrested the accused hailing from Anna Nagar who has turned out to be the son of veteran actor Sooryakanth who is also a star speaker in the ruling ADMK government.
According to the police complaint, Vijay Harish had taken the girl to an apartment in Virugambakkam on January 2nd and had spiked a drink she had with drugs and then raped her. Later he had started blackmailing her that she should cooperate sexually with him any time he calls her failing which he would upload the images and clips on the internet. The crime has shocked Kollywood circles as Sooryakanth a Rajinikanth lookalike has acted in several films and serials as a character artist and villain.
