The news that a 53 year old actor remarried his wife of 2 years on International Women's Day has gone viral on the internet. There is a very interesting story behind his decision which he took for the sake of his three daughters.
Actor and lawyer Shukur a native of Cheruvathur, Kasaragod, and Sheena, a native of Palakkad, got married October 6, 1994 and have three daughters Khadeeja Jasmine, Fathima Jebin and Fathima Jesa. On International Womens Day on March 8th the couple remarried under the Special Marriages Act at the Hozdurg sub-registrar's office in Kanhangad in the presence of their daughters.
It was reported that Shukur and Sheena who is the Kannur University Law Dept HOD remarried after 29 years so as there would not be any issues in dividing their properties equally to their three daughters. It is said that according to their Islamic religious rules since they dont have a son only 2/3rds of their property can be shared. But now under the government recognized Special Marriages Act the lawyer turned actor will not have any issues in giving his entire properties to his daughters.
Shukur gained fame acting in an important role in 'Nna Thaan Case Kodu' costarring Kunchacko Boban and S. Gayathrie in the lead roles. He has taken to facebook to state that certain fringe religious groups are threatening him for his action and he has explained that he did not go against religion in any way but protect the interests of his offsprings.
