Actor Rahman began in the Tamil cinema business in 1986 with "Nilave Malare," and has had a varied career. In movies including "Vasantha Raagam," "Puriyatha Puthir," and "Pudhu Pudhu Arthangal," he has portrayed heroes; he has also played villainous characters in films such Ajith's "Billa" and Suriya's "Singam."

Rahman is now working on the film "Anjaamai," having recently played the role of Madhuranthakan in both parts of the praised "Ponniyin Selvan '' series. Rahman has appeared in Malayalam, Telugu, and Hindi films in addition to Tamil ones.

In a surprising turn of events, Rahman's daughter Alisha, who has always loved movies since she was young, is now assisting the director under the eminent director Mani Ratnam. She is helping to create the currently under construction movie "Thug Life." Following the end of "Thug Life," Alisha is expected to start her own path either as an actress or a director, therefore carrying on the family history in the film business.
