The Tamil Nadu theater strike has entered third day today. As a protest against Tamil Nadu Government's levy of 30% entertainment tax in excess of the GST levied by the Union Government, the theater owners had announced a strike and the movie halls across the state have been shut down since Monday.
Theater owners, distributors and film producers have met the Chief Minister as well as a few other ministers of the state and held two rounds of discussion on Monday and Tuesday and tried to persuade them to withdraw the State Government tax.
But no solution has been arrived yet.
However senior producer Abirami Ramanathan the head of Tamil Film Chamber of Commerce comes up with a good news. He has been quoted saying "There has been a good progress in the talks. The Government has patiently listened to all our demands and seems to understand our concerns. We can expect a positive solution post noon today."
