Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao, who have been married for 15 years, have decided to part ways. Without giving room for empty rumor-mongering, the duo today issued a joint statement and said that they will be looking after Azad, their son, together.

In the statement, the Bollywood superstar and his filmmaker-wife said that they have shared a lifetime of experiences, joy and laughter. Adding that their relationship has only grown in trust, respect and love, they said that they would like to begin a new chapter in their lives. "We are no longer as husband and wife, but as co-parents and family for each other,” they added.

They revealed that they had planned to get separated some time ago, but took time for the plan to materialize. The duo will be living separately like an extended family.

The fans are shocked that the duo has called it quits. They are, at the same time, relieved that they are not separating due to some bitterness.

Aamir was married to Reena previously. Like his second marriage, his first marriage too lasted 15 years in all.
