’83’ the movie tracing India’s historic win at the 1983 cricket World Cup is one of the most awaited films of this year. Due to the global coronavirus pandemic, the 10th April 2020 release date could not be honored and was forced to be pushed for a later date. The trade had projected that the film would have collected upwards of 300 crores during its theatrical run. OTT platforms in order to capitalize on the cricket fever and the subject have offered an unheard of price in Indian cinema.
Director Kabir Khan confirmed to our sources that a whopping sum was offered for ’83’ direct online release but since he has envisioned and made it to be experienced on the big screen he is ready to wait for the pandemic to end and then release it for the people.
In ’83’Ranveer Singh will be seen playing the character of former world cup winning captain Kapil Dev and Deepika Padukone portraying the character of Kapil Dev’s wife Romi Dev. while Jiiva is on board as Krishnamachari Srikanth. Kamal Haasan’s RKFI and Sashikanth’s Y Not Studios are the distributors for the Tamil version while Reliance Entertainment will be taking care of the Hindi, Telugu and the other language versions.
