73 people found locked up in old-age home

In Nagaram village on the outskirts of Hyderabad, the police have rescued about 73 old people, reports say.  The old women and men were found locked in a room of an old-age home, they added.

As per a news agency report, a case has been registered under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 against the management of the old-age home. 

“A case of cheating has been registered against the management of the old age home after a complaint was received that Psychiatric patients and mentally disturbed persons are being confined in a house with chains and being treated inhumanly. Investigation underway,” the police have been quoted as saying.
