Young girl commits suicide after being scolded for using TikTok

A 14-year-old girl hung herself from the ceiling pipe of her bathroom in Mumbai after her mother scolded her for watching and recording TikTok videos all the time.

The young girl died at the city’s KEM hospital on Sunday after battling for life for 3 days. The 14-year-old would be glued to her mobile phone watching and uploading videos on the famous TikTok App, according to the family members. The incident happened on January 9 on the girl’s father’s birthday after she was found by her mother recording videos in the balcony of her residence. Upon being scolded for the same, the teenager stormed in the bathroom and hung herself off the ceiling pipe. She was immediately rushed to the hospital where she was treated till Sunday before she succumbed to her injuries.

TikTok, a media app meant for creating and sharing videos, has recently become popular among people of all age groups across several countries.
