Today, the much-awaited trailer for Zoya Akhtar's film "The Archies" was launched, giving a sneak peek into the upcoming movie featuring fresh faces Suhana Khan, Agastya Nanda, and Khushi Kapoor. Teen musical drama Netflix movie adapted from an American comic book series sharing the same title It is set in 1960s India and follows the lives of various Archie Comics characters living within a small town, Riverdale.
Set against the backdrop of a ‘small town' in Riverdale, the story explores themes that mainly revolve around love, friendship, and save-the-park at Riverdale is faced by redevelopments that would see one of its most favourite parks in the city go the imaginary hogwash to be forthcoming.
Agastya Nanda has been cast as Archie Andrews; Khushi Kapoor becomes Betty Cooper; and Suhana Khan assumes the role of Veronica Lodge. Scheduled for release this December 7, the film also stars Vedang Raina as Reggie Mantle, Mihir Ahuja as Jughead Jones, Dot as Ethel Muggs, and Yuvraj Menda as Dilton Doiley.
The Archies features actors like Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor, and Agastya Nanda making their Bollywood debuts. The teaser for the film was originally dropped during the Netflix global fan event, TUDUM, held in Sao Paulo, Brazil, earlier this year. Responding to commentary on the public appearances of the actors regarding this film, director Zoya Akhtar put forward the consideration that "The Archies" represents precisely this wide spectrum of appearance that Indians have.
