Few weeks ago, it was rumored that filmmaker Zoya Akhtar is about to adapt the popular Archie Comics into a Bollywood film. Well, the project has been officially announced now by Netflix and Zoya herself. Buzz suggests that it is going to be a coming of age musical drama set in the 60s. The announcement was made in really creative way in the form of an actual Archie comics strip.

Sharing the comic strip on Instragram, Netflix wrote, “Get your milkshakes ready because Archie and the gang are about to get down and desi in ‘The Archies’. A coming-of-age musical drama directed by @zoieakhtar. Coming soon to Netflix! #TheArchiesOnNetflix."

Talking about the project, Zoya stated, "It was a large part of my childhood and teenage years. The characters are iconic and globally loved, which is also why I am a little nervous. I have to make sure the film stokes the nostalgia of a generation that grew up on the comic and yet resonates with the young adults today."

Although there has been no announcement about the cast but it is being rumored that Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor and Agastya Nanda might make their debuts with this project.
