Zomato stands by its Muslim rider, says food has no religion

A Zomato user from North India today made a hue and cry on Twitter with a strange complaint. He rued about the food delivery app, saying that it refused to accept his complaint. What is the complaint?
The user ordered food and a Muslim was assigned to deliver the order. When he came to know about this, the user cancelled the order and told Zomato via chat that he doesn't want a non-Hindu rider to deliver the food to him. The company said that it can't do anything about it and charged him the money.
Following the user's intolerant behaviour, Zomato today took a stance. "Food doesn’t have a religion. It is a religion," it said.
However, many are trolling Zomato on social media for being "hypocritical". They are of the view that Zomato does offer Halal food to Muslim customers. "If food has no religion, why offer Halal food?" the trolls are asking.
