Zendaya caused a stir on social media by unfollowing everyone on Instagram, including her boyfriend, Tom Holland, reducing her follow count to zero.
While the reason behind this mass unfollowing remains unknown, Zendaya isn't completely stepping away from social media. She recently shared the poster for her upcoming movie "Challengers," starring alongside Josh O'Connor and Mike Faist, teasing its release on April 26 with a simple caption wishing her followers a happy new year.
In "Challengers," Zendaya portrays Tashi Duncan, a tennis star turned coach entangled in a love triangle with her husband (Faist) and ex-boyfriend (O'Connor). The storyline unfolds both on and off the tennis court, with a trailer hinting at passionate encounters among the trio.
Speaking to Elle, Zendaya expressed her apprehension and excitement about this role marking a new, more mature phase in her career, stating, "It was a little bit scary to take on, which I think is a good feeling. To be like: 'Ooh, can I do this?' You could run from that feeling and stay safe and comfortable, or you can go: 'You know what, f**k it'."
Known for her privacy, Zendaya shared insights on navigating the public eye while protecting her personal space. She emphasized finding a balance between privacy and existence in the public sphere, stating, "It's about protecting the peace and letting things be your own but also not being afraid to exist. You can't hide. That's not fun, either. I am navigating it more than ever now."
"Challengers" is scheduled to premiere in the UK on April 26.
