YSRCP manifesto: Jagan’s Credibility and Promises

The YSRCP manifesto for the upcoming Andhra Pradesh elections has caused quite a stir, focusing on the party’s past achievements and future promises. In a heated exchange, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has accused TDP President N. Chandrababu Naidu of misleading the public with unachievable promises in the TDP manifesto, specifically targeting Naidu’s “Super-6” proposals.

Contrasting Governance: Jagan presented a comparative analysis of TDP and YSRCP rule between 2014-2019 and 2019-2024 respectively, highlighting YSRCP’s commitment to welfare schemes and infrastructure development despite the financial constraints caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. He refuted Naidu’s claims of increased taxes under YSRCP, emphasizing transparency and responsible governance.

YSRCP’s Commitment to Welfare: Jagan emphasized that YSRCP went beyond its 2019 manifesto by implementing schemes like “KapuNestham,” “House Pattas,” and “Gorumudha” to benefit the people. He contrasted this with Naidu’s alleged tendency to make unfulfilled promises, highlighting YSRCP’s dedication to implementing feasible and beneficial schemes.

Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) Focus: Jagan underscored the effectiveness of DBT in delivering welfare benefits directly to the people, eliminating intermediaries and ensuring transparency. He claimed that no other state government in the country has implemented DBT-based welfare schemes as effectively as YSRCP.

Call for Public Awareness: Jagan urged the public to discern the reality behind political claims, emphasizing his commitment to honest governance and delivering on promises. He positioned YSRCP as a party that prioritizes the welfare of the people and delivers tangible results.

Here’s a breakdown of the key points:

Past Achievements: High Implementation Rate: YSRCP claims to have fulfilled 99% of its promises from the 2019 manifesto, highlighting its commitment to the people. Focus on Key Sectors: The manifesto emphasizes the party’s dedication to crucial areas like education, healthcare, agriculture, housing, women’s empowerment, and social safety.

Welfare Initiatives: YSRCP highlighted schemes like house pattas, loans, self-employment support, and infrastructure development, aimed at uplifting various communities, including minorities. Temple Development: Addressing opposition allegations, the manifesto underscored efforts to renovate old temples, construct new ones, and abolish retirement for priests.

Future Promises: Increased Welfare Pensions: A gradual increase in welfare pensions from 3,000 to 3,500 per month by January 2029, demonstrating continued commitment to social security. Decentralized Capitals: Establishing Visakhapatnam as the executive capital, Amaravati as the legislative capital, and Kurnool as the judicial capital, promoting balanced regional development. Continuation of Successful Schemes: Maintaining popular schemes like Amma Vodi, with an increased financial outlay, ensuring continued support for education. Polavaram Project and Infrastructure Development: Commitment to completing the Polavaram project, establishing medical colleges, providing housing for the poor, and developing the aqua industry.

Manifesto as a “Holy Book”: YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, YSRCP chief, emphasized the importance of the manifesto, comparing it to holy scriptures like the Bible, Quran, and Bhagavad Gita. This signifies the party’s dedication to fulfilling its promises and serving the people. Overall, the YSRCP manifesto presents a comprehensive vision for Andhra Pradesh’s future, focusing on welfare, development, and decentralization. It remains to be seen how these promises translate into action, but the party’s track record and strong emphasis on fulfilling commitments offer hope for continued progress.
