Delhi-based YouTuber Joravar Singh Kalsi and his friend Gurpeet Singh were arrested by the Police for driving recklessly and imitating a scene from the web series Farzi starring Shahid Kapoor, Vijay Sethupathi and Rashi Khanna. Kalsi, who has a substantial following on YouTube, was identified by the police through a video he uploaded online called Paise uda Feroz, in which he and his friend were driving around Golf Course Road in Gurugram, throwing fake currency notes and speaking dialogues from the web series. The duo was later released after cooperating with the investigation.
The OTT series Farzi, directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK and featuring an impressive cast of Shahid Kapoor, Vijay Sethupathi, Kay Kay Menon, and Raashii Khanna, had received a positive response from audiences on Amazon Prime Video due to its exciting storyline. The show revolves around a con artist named Sunny (played by Shahid Kapoor) who gets involved in printing fake currency notes and ends up in a dark web of money. One scene in the series shows Shahid throwing fake currency notes from a moving car, which inspired two men to recreate the scene in real life. However, the stunt didn't go as planned and was captured in a viral video on social media. The YouTuber Joravar Singh Kalsi was driving the car, while his friend Lucky Kamboj sat in the open trunk, wearing a mask and throwing cash on the moving vehicle.
An FIR was filed against them under sections 279, 283, and 336 of the Indian Penal Code and The Motor Vehicles Act at the Sushant Lok police station. The police officials warned against such actions, which could put the safety of commuters at risk.
