Youths have become Uber drivers: Rahul Gandhi

Congress leader and wannabe Prime Minister Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said that youths have been driven to become Uber/Ola drivers, thanks to the government's failure to create high-paying jobs in the services and manufacturing sectors. He meant to say that youths working in the gig economy show how desperate the job market is.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday, the Congress leader said, "We ask youth about their jobs. Many said they are unemployed or drive Uber. On the other hand, farmers talked about not getting money under the PM-BIMA Yojana. Their land has been snatched away, while tribals talked about the negatives of the Tribal Bill."
Many Netizens differed with RaGa, saying that drivers/delivery agents today earn more than what youths used to make in the previous decades. "There is no need to believe that cabbies, riders, and employees at Swiggy/Zomato are living a poor life. They earn handsomely compared to most farmers living in rural areas. Without knowing this reality, one shouldn't project urban jobs in the gig economy in a negative light. It's hardly a criticism of the government of the day," a Facebook user wrote.
RaGa made the comments while talking about his Bharat Jodo Yatra experiences.
